Friedrich Von Schelling
Ueber
die Möglichkeit einer der Philosophie
überhaupt (On the Possibility of a Form of Philosophy in General) a book that
is written by the philosopher , but also on the language of the title we can
tell that it is German. A philosopher
who went beyond his works and has already gone far from what he is. His
philosophy is about Transcendental Philosophy and Naturphilosophie. That person
is Friedrich Von Schelling. He is the one who is behind of all this
success. Going back with how Schelling
live his life, he handle it with being wise.
Friedrich Von Schelling was a German philospher, lived for about 79 years
of his life, 19th century philosopher.
His main interests is naturphilosophie, natural science, aesthetics,
metaphysics, epistemology and Christian Philosophy. He was German idealist and
romantic philosopher who developed a metaphysical system based on the
philosophy of nature. His first two treatises, On the Possibility of a Form of
Philosophy in General on the Ego as
Principle of Philosophy, were influenced by Fichte's philosophy of the
Absolute Ego.
Indeed Fichte's critics mockingly referred to
Schelling as the "street peddler of the Ego."Schelling's thought in
the large has been neglected, especially in the English-speaking world, as has
been his later work on mythology and revelation, much of which remains
untranslated. His first philosophy is Naturphilosophie, which, although its
empirical claims are largely indefensible, opens up the possibility of a modern
hermeneutic view of nature that does not restrict nature's significance to what
can be established about it in scientific terms
Schelling's Naturphilosophie also has been
attacked by scientists for its analogizing tendency and lack of empirical
orientation. Although he is often regarded as a philosophical Proteus who
changed his conception so radically and so often that it is hard to attribute
one clear philosophical conception to him, Schelling was in fact often an
impressively rigorous logical thinker. In the era during which Schelling was
writing, so much was changing in philosophy that a stable, fixed point of view
was as likely to lead to a failure to grasp important new developments as it
was to lead to a defensible philosophical system. Schelling's continuing
importance today relates mainly to three aspects of his work. Schelling's influence
on many directions in modern philosophy has been seriously underestimated in
the English-speaking world, though sustained new attention to his work in
recent years has increasingly brought him into contemporary debates about
naturalism, freedom, aesthetics, epistemology, and ontology.
I have concluded
that Schelling's aspects of his works has continued to be important until today
and has given value. It is clear, however, that his philosophical thought still
influenced many who rejected him on mainly political grounds. The philosopher had been a great influence to the
english-speaking world where I think his work is used until today. From being a
logical thinker that he was and maybe some of his philosophical thought had
been rejected, he still maybe got make used of it.
"To achieve great things we must be
self-confined, mastery is revealed in limitation", Schelling once said and
indeed he was right because in the end of all your hard work you will get to be
your works , main thinker." Schelling once said.
